Alan Rapley - Further Information

Giving back to sport:

Following a successful 8 year elite swimming career, he applied this experience as an athlete into numerous business achievements in the sports industry through his roles in; Coach Development Management; Education Management; Elite Swimming Coaching and Regional Development work. This unique experience and knowledge has become the bedrock of his consultancy business established in 2008.

In addition to running his sports performance consultancy, Alan has also worked as:

• Lead officer for the development of the UK Coaching Framework
• Chair of the Leicestershire County Cricket Club management board
• Coach mentor for first class coaches at Leicestershire County Cricket Club
• Level 4 Swimming Coach, tutor, assessor and mentor
• Pioneered key club, local authority, regional and national initiatives
  

DKH Legacy Trust:

Alan has worked as an Athlete Mentor on the Backing Talent East London project, and was recently made Chair of the DKH Legacy Trust Performer Steering Group. He said, "It is a fantastic honour and challenge to be the inaugural Chair of the PSG for the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust. The Trust has been set up by and for elite athletes; the Performance Steering Group is in position to stimulate, shape and support all areas of the DKH Legacy Trust. With the London Olympics around the corner it will be vitally important that all of our top athletes, from all sports and all parts of the UK have a mechanism and system they can link into – it will be our role and responsibility to start laying the solid foundations for this pathway to grow."
