Cathy Wood - European Silver Medallist - Ironman Triathlon


Biography:

While still at school Cathy represented Great Britain in springboard diving at junior international level and later went on to play lacrosse for Junior England. After graduating from Durham University with a degree in Economic History, Cathy trained to be a journalist and joined the Daily Mail as ski correspondent before later becoming Travel Editor. 

Cathy had only just started Triathlon when she joined the Daily Mail but quickly found herself competing first as an age-group athlete at the World Championships for Olympic distance before moving on to elite level. She has competed in five Ironman Triathlons.

After a career-ending bicycle accident Cathy decided to switch from writing about travel to covering sports events and has reported on numerous events for the Daily Mail including the Boat Race, London Marathon, New York Marathon, World Swimming, World Rowing and World Triathlon Championships as well as covering the Commonwealth Games and the Olympic and Paralympic Games.  She is now a freelance sports writer, editor and media consultant.
