Young Harnessing Talent Athlete

Jade Barclay - Swimming - Loughborough University Scholar

Jade attended Townley Grammar School from the age of 11 to 16, where I achieved 12 GCSE’s A*-A grade whilst also taking part in the World Class Start Programme.

Due to intense training demands, it became difficult to focus on school work and swimming due to travelling time between the pool, school and home. However, help was at hand. Jade was offered a scholarship at Millfield School in Somerset, a boarding school specialising in sports.

This was the perfect opportunity for Jade to study for her A levels whilst having training facilities right on her doorstep. There she achieved 3 A levels whilst excelling in her chosen sport, swimming which enabled her to gain a place at Loughborough University to study Sport and Exercise Science.

In order to get the best out of both her athletic and academic abilities, she was allowed to stretch the final year of her degree over 2 years. With more time to train and study, Jade feel's that her true potential will be reflected at the end of her University career. She is currently going into the final year of her degree and a member of the England Talent squad. Watch this space!
