Tim Stimpson - International – Rugby

Biography:
Tim enjoyed sport from an early age, playing mini rugby at 5 years old and opening the batting for the Yorkshire schoolboys' cricket teams.

During his career he played for Wakefield, West Hartlepool, Newcastle Falcons, Leicester Tigers, Perpignan, Leeds Tykes and Nottingham, England and the British Lions. His international career was a start-stop affair; however he excelled at club level. In particular, during his five year spell at Leicester Tigers between 1998-2003, as a goal kicker, he was an integral part of the dominant Leicester side that won the league four times in succession to add to back-to-back Heineken Cup, becoming Premiership points scorer in the process (his points total have only recently been overtaken by Jonny Wilkinson and Andy Goode).

Stimpson won a record five consecutive Premiership titles with Newcastle Falcons and Leicester Tigers. He still holds a host of records at Leicester including most points in a career at 1180, most penalties in a career with 257 and most conversions in a career with 149.

During an international career that ran from 1996-2002 Stimpson won 20 England caps and was included in the tour squad for the 1997 British and Irish Lions series in South Africa, winning a Test cap as a replacement in the final Test.
