About the Trust

Introduction

When Kelly Holmes stood on the podium in Athens, having realised her life dream of become an Olympic Champion, she knew her life was going to change, but at that point she wasn’t sure how.

It took her some time to decide to finally retire from competition and as she made that huge decision, she realised she had a lot of thinking to do about her future.

Having seen first hand what difference elite sports performers to young people’s development as role models and mentors, Dame Kelly set up the Trust to ‘Inspire young people to find and fulfil their potential in sport or in life through our workforce of elite sports performers.’

This means that DKH Legacy Trust provides support to other elite performers as they develop a new career, through the 'Harnessing Talent' project, at the same time making the most of their skills and experience by working with and inspiring young people through our 'Inspiring Lives' and 'Inspiring Sport' projects.
