Some of the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust staff put on their running shoes this weekend, attempting to show the boss how it's done.....or not!
CEO - Julie Whelan, Events and Logistics Manager - Pete Pearson, Communications Assistant - James Robinson and Finance Officer - Carly Duffett - were joined by Jed Whelan and Nick Ramsdale (2 members of Kelly's Charity Runners), to brave the Newham London Run 10k course.
The Newham London Run saw them run through The Olympic Park and soak up the delights of Stratford Park, West Ham Park, The Greenway and Stratford town centre was a huge success.
The borough is at the centre of London's plans for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Games will see an 80,000-seater stadium built in Stratford - which will also be at the heart of a prestigious new development, Stratford City, comprising 4,500 new homes, nearly half a million square metres of office space, hotels, schools and a shopping centre to rival any in the country.
Julie Whelan, CEO of the Trust said, "It's great to come out here today and not only have an enjoyable day out with colleagues, but also raise some vital funds for the Trust."
She continued to say, "It is truly amazing what they are bringing to this area of London, just coming here and seeing the redevelopment really does bring the Olympics to life."
After the race, Julie said, "What a great course, and a great day out. I would recommend the Newham London Run to anyone, a lovely day out....and you got to run up to the Olympic Stadium....what more inspiration do you need?"
What a fantastic experience, and proof that the boss isn't the only runner in the office!!
