Andrew Lunnon was announced today as the lucky winner of the Golden World Cup Football signed by Dame Kelly Holmes. Andy, a graduate from the DKH Legacy Trust’s recent Get on Track programme in Reading had his name pulled out of the hat by the charity’s Finance and Administration Officer, Kemi Fadare.
Knowing that the Trust had been inundated with entries for the competition, Kemi took the draw very seriously and ensured there were four other witnesses for the occasion.
So, at 4.30 pm today the draw was made Andy’s name was pulled out.
When contacted by the Trust with the good news Andy said:
“Awesome! Well I am surprised! It’s a shock to win because you always enter competitions never thinking you will win.”
When asked what he will do with the prize, Andrew said he would give the ball to fellow Get on Track student, Laura Childs who had helped him so much over the past few months during the project which helps unemployed young people get into education, training or employment.
Through the support of the charity, both Andy and Laura (pictured right, volunteering at a recent event with Pippa Wilson) have in the last couple of weeks passed their level one fitness exams.
They have been studying to become Personal Trainers and are now currently waiting for their work placements in a local gym.
There’s no doubt about it.... things are looking up for Andy and Laura now!
Thank-you to everyone else who took the time to enter the competition, we appreciated your support.
Watch out for the next competition!
