Building on their partnership to the London 2012 Young Leaders Programme we are delighted that BP have selected us as one of their delivery partners.
The London 2012 Young Leaders Programme, which is a major new personal development launched by London 2012 and BP in January 2010 will give young people from across the UK the chance to make a positive change to their lives and local communities. The selected young leaders will then also have the opportunity to play a significant role in the delivery of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Each young person will receive coaching support and guidance from one hundred BP employees and a number of high profile athlete mentors many of whom will be Olympians and Paralympians, to help them along their way. The intention is that the 100 selected young leaders will work to recruit and engage other young people from their local area in order to support their community activities. They will also seek to promote London 2012-related activities in their local area.
The Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust has been chosen by BP to provide essential project management and liaison support with local authorities to identify the young people who will take part in the programme. We will also train and provide athlete mentors, which builds on the charity's mission of inspiring young people to find and fulfil their potential in sport and in life, through the support of our elite sports performers as role models and mentors.
Dame Kelly Holmes, Chair of the DKH Legacy Trust said:
"It is fantastic to have the support of BP as a gold level sponsor for my charity. We feel very privileged to have been chosen by BP to play a role in the delivery of The London 2012 Young Leaders Programme and we are looking forward to playing our role as a delivery partner. "

The Trust are delighted to have a two year partnership with international recruiter, Morgan Hunt, to support the Get On Track programme for young people not in education, employment or training (NEETs) to find gainful employment.
Morgan Hunt is the UK’s leading provider of specialist recruitment, consultancy and headhunting services to the public sector, leading global firms, SMEs government bodies and institutions. The company has received numerous awards and accolades in recognition of their commitment to quality and customer care, most recently at the Recruiter Awards: Best Public Sector Recruitment Firm; Best Corporate and Social Responsibility Strategy; and the Overall Gold Grand Prix Award for the Best UK Recruitment Firm.
The international recruiter will be sponsoring the Trust's Get On Track programme, which will provide stepping stones for vulnerable young people into volunteering, work placements and employment opportunities, while benefitting from the mentoring support of elite sports performers who, having experienced the highs and lows of world class competition, know what it is like to face adversity and overcome the odds to succeed.
Morgan Hunt is hoping to work with the Trust to deliver up to six Get On Track programmes around the country over the next two years, providing funding and access to employment opportunities with its extensive network of clients.
Gavin Megnauth, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Morgan Hunt, said:
"Everyone is well aware that it's a tough economic time right now. Even graduates are finding it difficult to enter employment – for disadvantaged young people with little or no training, the challenge is even more stark. We believe the industry has a responsibility to help, and are making even more of a commitment to CSR this year because of the recessionary times we find ourselves in."
"We work with more than one thousand organisations across the UK and are one of the leading public sector recruiters in the UK. We'll be looking to harness our relationships with these employers to help the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust make a real, meaningful difference to young people's lives and careers."
Dame Kelly Holmes said, "I set the Trust up because I have seen first hand the difference role models and mentors can make to the development of young people. I believe passionately that everyone has a talent, they just have to find it! Elite sports performers can provide great inspiration for young people, helping them to find and believe in their own talents., which is what we do through our Get on Track Programme. Not only is it fantastic to have the financial backing of Morgan Hunt on this, but their national network of organisations and companies that might be able to offer employment opportunities to our young people, will help us make a real difference."
